He doesn't even wait to hear it close behind him before he's picking up speed, boots slapping the asphalt in the direction of the car's chipper beeping in response to her press of the fob. But as soon as he's breached the glass doors, everything just feels wrong. Too close (despite being open air around them,) disorienting with the lack of landmarks. All they can do is keep moving, trying to ignore the inhuman, monstrous sounds of indistinct movement behind them.
He can't even compare it to anything he's heard before. Even with having heard the squeals and screeches and fleshy thumping noises of shadows, nothing he can recall is exactly the same as the noise from behind them, and it makes him shiver despite the exertion of running.
He's definitely not as fast as her, but doesn't show signs of tiring from the jog so far.]
