It wouldn't work back home but... with how subtle it is here, it might work. [At very least, he could try. If he couldn't take direct control, then there wasn't any way his careful experimentation with his weakened quirk could hurt anyone. If he didn't hurt anyone, Midoriya didn't tell anyone... he wouldn't run afoul of any quirk rules once he got home.]
