Steve steps out of the car and he pushes the door closed, but doesn't risk slamming it. It's one thing to talk and another to start banging things. They don't need to announce where they are to whatever might be out there.
The fog is so thick he feels like he could choke on it, but he ignores that feeling. They have to get someplace better than inside a dead old car.
He starts to step around the car to Bucky before he speaks, but once he hears his name, he jogs the rest of the way over to Bucky.
"I'm here. I'm right in front of you."
Standing there, facing Bucky in the thick mist, he's never felt so isolated in Bucky's presence before, but he can't see much around them and Bucky can't even see him and it feels like something is clawing at his heart. He would hate to be in Bucky's shoes and know Bucky's there but be unable to even see him. It can't be easy for Bucky, either.
"This is going to be me touching you." And at least out here, Steve thinks to warn him before he reaches for Bucky's bicep.
"Let's see if we can get inside that building, okay?"
