[Jumping a bit at the sound of a voice so close to him, he looks up before unconsciously scooting a couple cautious inches away as the stranger sits down beside him. Looking at her apprehensively, it takes a moment or two before he answers her.

There was something about the way she referred to the other people here as "humans" that seemed a bit off. But then again, he wasn't exactly an expert on people, so maybe they did just occasionally referred to each other that way.

Shrugging in the jacket that's about three sizes too big for him, he pulls it a little more tightly around himself.]

I don't know about them, [As he gestures with a little nod in the general direction of the other's milling around the fountain, his voice sounds just as unabashedly nervous as he looks.] but I'm just trying to stay away from the windows.

[After another pause he adds with a slight mutter,] And I thought there might be food or a way out here.

[ Seeing as he was still here and didn't seem to have any food on him, he was wrong on both accounts. But oddly enough, both his legs and one of his arms are soaked in water, as if he'd ended up in the fountain at some point. ]
